Environmental pollution, species extinction, and global warming are circumstances that are steadily progressing and seem to have no end. Fortunately, numerous solutions have been found in recent years and are increasingly being put into practice. Besides switching to renewable energies, simply saving resources is also considered an effective way to do something good for our environment.

However, savings do not necessarily mean doing it with sacrifice. Recycling also saves resources and results in less waste. The classic produce, use, and throw away is thus a thing of the past. The future offers a chance to return to the cycles found in nature. The keyword here is circular economy.

 

Circular Economy - How does it work?

The circular economy takes nature's material cycle as its model. The goal is to create a long-term economy that functions without waste (zero waste) and emissions (zero emission). However, zero waste and zero-emission are easier said than done. A first thought would be to stop throwing anything away, not drive a car, or not produce anything anymore. However, pausing the world is not a solution but rather a postponement of the problem.

How then do you ensure more cycles in the economy?

 

Make new from old

As already described, the motto "turn old into new" is a way to save waste and emissions. During the production of their goods, companies can ensure to use materials that have already been used, and use surplus materials in other processes. Service providers, like us, should take care to install products made from recycled material and/or with the help of renewable energy.

Independently of this, you support the recycling of products by separating your waste. Therefore, we have installed a waste station both in our Workcafé and on each floor of our longitudinal building in the administration building in Eislingen, which enables our employees to separate their waste into paper, yellow bags, and residual waste.

Saving material through recycling goes hand in hand with saving emissions. By using recycled material emissions are saved that would have been generated otherwise by producing materials over again or by incinerating waste. According to a 2019 study by the Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety, and Energy Technology UMSICHT, working with recycled plastic can save up to 60% of climate-damaging emissions compared to working with newly produced plastic.

Apart from that, the effectiveness that a switch to climate-neutral energy sources has us no longer deniable. More and more people are supplying most of their electricity from the photovoltaic systems that they have installed. Companies are also increasingly focusing on promoting decarbonisation internally and externally.

 

Why we rely on Circular Economy

Installing photovoltaics on all our buildings and switching to an e-vehicle fleet are just two of the many ways we as a group are cutting emissions and implementing sustainability. When carrying out our services, we focus on ensuring that the installed equipment will function over the long term. Maintenance methods such as predictive maintenance help us to identify future potential failures to save as much material as possible.

Why do we do this? - Because we as a group of companies are convinced that sustainability is the right path. In the future, too, we want to continue to focus on environmentally friendly measures to contribute to the longest possible habitability of our planet.
