Solar Decathlon Europe: Innovation that Encourages Sustainability
The Solar Decathlon Europe is an international University and college competition that fosters innovation in sustainability. For the first time, it takes place in Germany this year. In the Mirker Viertel in Wuppertal, the project works of the 18 participating universities from 11 countries will be on display and judged for visitors from 10 - 26 June 2022. The evaluation scheme is based on ten previously defined disciplines ranging from architecture to sustainability and degree of innovation.

Architecture meets climate protection – The task this year is to create a concept for sustainable building and living in the city and implement it in a model house. The participants from the Technical University of Rosenheim have chosen a long-stretched family house in the Ludwigsfeld district of Nuremberg for this purpose. They have already developed a concept for adding a storey. "Our vision is to create a sustainable, climate-neutral, and affordable living space that adapts to different building types and sizes. Additionally, it should adapt to individual lifestyles and needs of different population groups through the flexible use of standardised modular construction." - says the "level-up your living" team. Two weeks before the exhibition, the construction of the model house in the Mirker Viertel starts. The team of the TU Rosenheim regularly informs all interested parties about the progress of the project on their website:

We also want to promote sustainable innovations and have therefore decided to support the Technical University of Rosenheim with a contribution this year. We wish the participants much success with their project and hope for a well-deserved victory. Below you will find more information about the Solar Decathlon Europe:
